Zinc is a vital trace element that must be regularly consumed through food to prevent a deficiency. This important mineral is involved in numerous important enzymatic reactions in the human body and plays a crucial role in various processes such as cell division, the regulation of hormones and general energy metabolism.
About 90% of the zinc in the human body is found in the bones and muscles, which is why zinc intake helps maintain bone health.
The remaining 10% of zinc are distributed across various organs (e.g. skin, kidneys, brain, intestines and liver). Since zinc is required for the function of over 300 enzymes and 1000 transcription factors, its functions in the human body are countless. For example, zinc helps protect cells from oxidative stress and is essential for the synthesis of DNA. Zinc also plays a crucial role in carbohydrate and fat metabolism.
In addition, zinc is essential for maintaining cognitive function and the health of skin, hair and nails. Zinc is also needed for the normal function of the immune system and contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.

Because of its various functions in our human metabolism, people with increased metabolic activity, such as athletes, or very physically active people may not cover their zinc requirements through their normal daily diet.
Zinc is also lost through sweat. Athletes who sweat a lot during training should therefore always keep an eye on their zinc levels. Also, people who follow a certain diet (e.g. veganism) should ensure that they get enough zinc to meet their needs. Furthermore, zinc is also needed for a functioning immune system. If you are suffering from an infection, it can also be helpful to increase your zinc intake temporarily while suffering from symptoms.

We recommend taking one capsule of our Zinc Caps per day with a meal. The time of intake is not really that important. Many male athletes swear by taking zinc before bed because of its testosterone-regulating effect¹, in order to provide the body with enough zinc for nighttime hormone production. Female athletes supplement zinc because of its effect on skin, hair and nails². There is no specific timing of intake required for these general effects of zinc.
